Welcome to the official site of our Khmu National Federation (KNF) Inc. We are glad that you were able to find us here. We hope that you will take some time to expand your knowledge and explore what our Khmu National Federation offers. Our goals and efforts are here to nurture and preserve the culture, heritage, and customs of our Khmu people.
My name is Tracie Chulaparn Friedman and I am the President of KNF. I took office on December 14, 2019. It is with great honor and excitement to become the first woman President in KNF history and to be able to represent all of our Khmu people in the United States. As President, I will use my skills and dedicate my time to continue the legacy and commitment established by past KNF Presidents, Senior Advisers and Community Leaders. My focus is to listen to our people and lead with my heart.
To start off the new decade, I want to outline the areas that KNF needs to prioritize in order to pave way for future generations:
- Cultural Preservation
- Higher Education
- Building Leadership
- Creating Sustainability for the future of KNF
Currently, the KNF is registered as a nonprofit organization with a 501(c) 3, in the Bay Area, California. We have the Board of Directors supported by the Senior Advisers and Regional Representatives. Our Board Members and Regional Representatives make up the Khmu Associations (Samakhoms). We have Samakhoms all over the country, this includes California (Santa Ana/OC, Stockton, Fresno), Washington, Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, and the East Coast (Boston region). As a result, each of the local Khmu Association (Samakhom) have a direct connection with the KNF. These individual associations have their own Board of Directors and body of work. However, the ultimate goal is to have each local Samakhom be dedicated and actively participating with KNF as a whole. This structure is put in place to guarantee that the Board and Local Representatives are collaborating with one another while focusing on areas that will ensure the continuation of our culture. KNF’s overall mission is to provide support, resources, and people to help lead the work of cultural preservation for Khmu communities all across the United States.
